A Farm-to-Table Philosophy Rooted in the Mahoning Valley

Dining at Mahoning Country Club is guided by a simple but unwavering principle: the best meals begin with the best ingredients, sourced as close to home as possible. Our farm-to-table approach means that every dish served across our three dining venues reflects the agricultural richness of northeastern Ohio and the dedication of the local farmers and producers who supply our kitchen.

At the helm of our culinary program is Executive Chef Nicole Russo, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America with eighteen years of professional experience in fine dining and hospitality. Before joining Mahoning Country Club, Chef Russo honed her craft at some of the most respected kitchens on the East Coast, bringing a depth of technique and creativity that elevates every plate she oversees. Her menus change quarterly to showcase the best seasonal produce, proteins, and artisan products available from local Mahoning Valley farms and producers.

Chef Russo's commitment to seasonality ensures that members experience something new and exciting with each visit. Spring menus might feature tender ramps and morel mushrooms foraged from the Ohio woodlands, while autumn brings roasted root vegetables, heirloom squash, and locally pressed apple cider reductions. This dedication to freshness and locality is what sets the dining experience at Mahoning Country Club apart from any other restaurant or club in the Youngstown region.

Three Distinctive Dining Venues

Whether the occasion calls for an elegant multi-course dinner, a casual meal with family after a round of golf, or craft cocktails with friends on a Saturday evening, Mahoning Country Club offers a venue perfectly suited to the moment.

The Oak Room formal dining room

The Oak Room

Our premier formal dining room seats eighty guests amid rich walnut paneling, crystal chandeliers, and white tablecloth service that recalls the grand tradition of American country club dining. The Oak Room offers both a prix fixe tasting menu and an a la carte selection that changes with the seasons. Chef Russo's multi-course tasting menus are curated to tell a culinary story, pairing each course with wines selected by our sommelier. Jackets are suggested for gentlemen during dinner service, and reservations are recommended, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings when the dining room is at its most vibrant.

The Fairway Grille casual dining area

The Fairway Grille

For a more relaxed atmosphere, The Fairway Grille serves lunch and dinner in a comfortable setting that is perfect for families, post-round gatherings, and weeknight meals when you want something satisfying without the formality. The menu features elevated versions of classic comfort fare, including hand-formed burgers made from locally sourced Ohio Heritage beef, artisan sandwiches, hearth-fired pizzas, and crisp seasonal salads. The Grille's wraparound patio offers stunning views overlooking the eighteenth fairway and is one of the most popular dining spots at the club during the warmer months.

The 19th Hole bar and lounge area

The 19th Hole Bar & Lounge

The social heart of the clubhouse, The 19th Hole is where members gather to unwind after a day on the course or celebrate the weekend with friends. Our bartenders craft cocktails using house-made syrups and fresh ingredients, and the back bar boasts over forty premium whiskey selections ranging from single malt Scotch to small-batch Ohio bourbon. The wine list features more than two hundred labels sourced from renowned regions around the world. A carefully curated small plates menu complements the drinks, and every Saturday evening, live jazz performances fill the lounge with a warm, inviting ambiance.

Signature Dining Experiences

Beyond our daily dining offerings, Mahoning Country Club hosts a calendar of signature culinary events that have become beloved traditions among our membership. These special evenings and celebrations bring the community together around the table and showcase the full range of our kitchen's talent.

Friday Night Fish Fry

A club tradition since 1956, the Friday Night Fish Fry has been bringing members together for nearly seven decades. Fresh Great Lakes walleye and Lake Erie perch are beer-battered and fried to golden perfection, served alongside house-made coleslaw, hand-cut fries, and our signature tartar sauce. This weekly gathering is one of the most anticipated meals on the club calendar and fills up quickly, so early arrival is encouraged.

Saturday Prime Rib Night

Every Saturday, our kitchen slow-roasts prime rib to exacting standards, carving thick, juicy portions tableside and serving them with Yorkshire pudding, creamed horseradish, and seasonal accompaniments. Members can choose from queen and king cuts, and the dish has earned a devoted following among those who appreciate the art of perfectly prepared beef.

Sunday Champagne Brunch

Our Sunday Champagne Brunch is a family affair, featuring an expansive buffet that includes a made-to-order omelet station, house-smoked salmon, freshly baked pastries, carved meats, seasonal fruit displays, and a decadent chocolate fountain dessert table. Complimentary champagne and mimosas flow throughout the morning, making it the ideal way to gather with loved ones and close out the weekend in style.

Monthly Wine Pairing Dinners

On the third Thursday of each month, our sommelier and Chef Russo collaborate on an intimate wine pairing dinner that explores a different region, varietal, or theme. These five-course evenings are limited to forty guests and include guided tasting notes, food and wine pairing education, and lively conversation among fellow enthusiasts. Past themes have included a Tuscan harvest dinner, a Napa Valley cabernet retrospective, and a sparkling wine celebration featuring grower Champagnes.

Seasonal Chef's Table

For the ultimate culinary experience, Chef Russo hosts a seasonal Chef's Table event in a private alcove adjacent to the kitchen. Limited to just ten seats, this intimate multi-course tasting menu allows guests to interact directly with the chef as each course is prepared and plated before their eyes. The menu draws from the finest seasonal ingredients available that week, and no two Chef's Table evenings are ever the same. These events sell out well in advance and have become one of the most sought-after dining experiences in the Mahoning Valley.

Holiday Celebrations

Throughout the year, Mahoning Country Club marks the major holidays with special dining events that bring the membership together in celebration. Our Thanksgiving feast features a traditional carved turkey dinner with all the trimmings, while Easter brunch is a springtime highlight for families. The Mother's Day brunch is our most popular reservation of the year, and the New Year's Eve Gala closes out each year with a black-tie dinner, live orchestra, champagne toast, and dancing into the early hours of the new year.

Private Dining & Catering

Mahoning Country Club offers members exclusive access to private dining rooms that are ideal for hosting intimate celebrations, business dinners, family gatherings, and milestone events. Our private dining spaces accommodate groups ranging from ten to forty guests and can be configured to suit the specific needs of any occasion, from a formal seated dinner to a cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvres.

Our culinary and events teams work closely with members to design custom menus tailored to each event. Whether you envision a multi-course wine dinner for a special anniversary, a casual buffet for a birthday celebration, or a business luncheon with a focused menu and efficient service, Chef Russo and her team will create a dining experience that exceeds your expectations. Every detail, from table settings and floral arrangements to dietary accommodations and wine pairings, is handled with care and precision.

For members who wish to host events outside the club, our off-site catering services bring the quality and creativity of Mahoning Country Club's kitchen directly to your home or chosen venue. Our catering team manages everything from menu planning and food preparation to setup, service, and cleanup, allowing you to be a guest at your own event.

Our Farm-to-Table Partners

The quality of our cuisine begins long before it reaches the kitchen. Mahoning Country Club is proud to partner with local farms and producers throughout the Mahoning Valley and greater northeastern Ohio region. These relationships are the foundation of our dining program and ensure that every ingredient on your plate is as fresh, flavorful, and responsibly sourced as possible.

Brunner Farm

Located just twenty minutes from the club, Brunner Farm supplies our kitchen with a rotating selection of seasonal vegetables, herbs, and microgreens grown using sustainable agricultural practices. From spring asparagus and sugar snap peas to summer heirloom tomatoes and autumn butternut squash, Brunner Farm's harvest drives the changing character of our seasonal menus.

Valley Fresh Dairy & Great Lakes Fish

Valley Fresh Dairy provides our kitchen with artisan cheeses, cultured butter, and fresh cream that elevate everything from our signature risottos to the pastry program. Our fish and seafood are sourced directly from Great Lakes fisheries, ensuring that the walleye, perch, and whitefish on our menus are caught sustainably and delivered with unmatched freshness to our members' plates.

Ohio Heritage Beef

Our steaks, prime rib, and burger blends come exclusively from Ohio Heritage, a collective of family-owned ranches in the state that raise grass-fed, hormone-free cattle. The result is beef with exceptional flavor, marbling, and tenderness that you can taste in every bite, whether you are enjoying a casual burger at the Fairway Grille or a forty-five-day dry-aged ribeye in The Oak Room.

Seasonal highlights at the club include a spring ramp and morel mushroom tasting menu, a summer tomato festival featuring Brunner Farm heirlooms, an autumn harvest dinner celebrating the bounty of Ohio's farms, and a winter truffle and game series that brings rich, warming dishes to the table during the coldest months. These seasonal celebrations connect our members to the land and the rhythms of the agricultural year in a way that no conventional restaurant can replicate.

What Our Members Say About Dining

Our members are the truest measure of our dining program's success. Here is what a few of them have shared about their experiences at the table.

"The wine pairing dinners at Mahoning are the cultural highlight of our month. Chef Russo and her sommelier craft five-course menus that tell a story, and last month's Tuscan evening with the imported porcini risotto and the 2018 Brunello was simply unforgettable. My book club has made these dinners our regular outing, and we always leave having learned something new about food and wine."
